Some things to think about-

So mayhaps you have read through our order information and you are now asking yourself a few questions. Things like "Well, why should I bother to order a copy if this comic is available online for free?" or "What type of quality will I be getting from this product?" So, I will attempt to answer some of these questions now.

First of all, the comic will be printed on semi-glossy paper, and will be 8.5"x11" in dimension - the size of an average piece of paper. This means that the comic is, dimension-wise, larger than your average comic book. The pages have been cleaned up so that the blacks are actually black, and not saturated greys with marker streaks going through them. All in all, it's going to look nice.

"So, why should I buy the comic when it's available online for free?"

There are many many answers to this question, and I'm going to go ahead and list them here.

But the first thing I want to clarify is that Abian will always be available for free viewing online, for as long as the www.lendral.com website is up and running.

Now then, why should you purchase a copy of Abian? Well, that's easy.

First of all, if you like Abian, then why not buy it? If you think it's a good comic and would like to own a copy to be able to carry around with you, show to your friends, or just show off on your book case or with your comic collection, then just buy yourself a copy.

Secondly, it's cheap. $5 is a low and simple price. It's pocket change.

Thirdly, the quality of the graphics is better in the printed version. As mentioned, the pages have been cleaned up. You can see the difference for yourself here:
Online Version- Printed Version-

Fourthly, Freebies! There's all sorts of little freebies you get when you order copies of the comics. First of all, there are extra pages of goodies available within some of the books. By this, of course, I'm referring to "filler art." In order to print a comic book, you have to make a certain page requirement, and when a book falls just short of that requirement, fillers must be added in to increase page numbers! And these fillers often take the form of full-page artwork, or else little non-cannon mini-comics featuring some of Abian's cast of characters. These fillers will not be placed on the website, and are therefore only available if you purchase a copy of the books.

Amanda also has an obsession with finding all sorts of neat little Abian items to make, things like Trading Cards, Magnets, Business Cards, etc., and we often send these goodies out for free along with comic orders. But these goodies are always a "while supplies last" deal, so the sooner you order yourself a copy of Abian, the more likely you'll be getting whatever random little goodies we still have supplies of. And these are completely free. You're only paying the $5 per comic book (as well as cost of shipping) and we just give you this stuff as extras just for ordering Abian.

Fifthly, if you order a copy of Abian, you will be supporting an independant comic artist. What we mean is, we are not part of any larger group. Abian is not owned by any of the major comic corporations, it is written, and drawn by a single individual and has been self-published with the help of dedicated friends and family. The Internet has opened up all kinds of doors for artists and authors to become self-published and make it easier for them to get their works out to the public. Before this, artists and authors would have to hunt out publishers and beg for their works to be produced, often being shot down constantly because the publishers simply didn't like their work. This doesn't mean that their work was bad, this just means that the publishers felt the artist/authors work wouldn't be considered appealing to the public as a mass. There are many people out there, with many different tastes and styles who find many different things appealing. An author could come up with a wonderful story, full of rich characters and an interesting background and a truly in-depth world, but unless they could somehow convince a publisher that it was worth buying their work, their amazing stories might never see the light of day, and hundreds of people who could have appreciated and enjoyed their work will all miss out because of it.

Independant publishing means that an artist/author does not have to conform to certain censorships, and their work can remain true to their original vision. It means that the artist/author who has put hours of effort and work and frustration and brainstorming into their products can actually get the recognition for doing that work, as opposed to having all of the credit just be given to some larger, faceless brand name. Supporting independant publishing means you're more likely to support an actual artist/author/musician/etc who is producing their work because they want to, and not because they're trying to appeal to a mass market for profit.

So why shouldn't you purchase a copy of Abian? Buy it because you like it. Buy it because it's cheap. Buy it because you'll get other goodies, and because if our popularity increases, we'll start making other things available as well *We already have a few interesting shirt ideas, for example*. Buy it because you'll be supporting an independant artist who spends all of her time working on these comics because she loves to do the work and show her stories to people who enjoy reading them.
